One of several attempts at a self portrait during the same sitting – the film was overexposed and then badly developed; causing something called reticulation – an affect which can create an all over grain a bit like cracleture in painting, or crazing in ceramics.

This photo shows the effects of damage to the emulsion of a negative called reticulation. It’s entirely accidental but in this instance is curiously effective – the fault suiting the subject matter and making it unearthly and strange.
