Exhibit 15

Untitled-14

The Photographers’ Place in the Peak District ran short residential courses one of which I attended in the early 1980s. It was taught by Martin Parr and Paul Hill. Brian Griffin who was meant to be there couldn’t make it. One of our assignments was to take photographs ‘shooting from the hip’ in other words without looking through the viewfinder. The town centre was filled with miners on a trip during which they dressed as cowboys. I have no idea why, but they appeared to be having a great time and provided some interesting subjects for photographs. I seem to remember that I was trying to take some serious documentary photographs but in this picture these guys could not resist mugging for the camera.
